production

Tuesday 9th November 2010

First day of filming and first shots, as location manager according to the narration of the film I decided that the alleyway in leavally park was most suitable for the shots and the storyboard. So we picked a suitable time for everyone in the group that would be able to attend and decided to get most of the filming out off the way. At 3 o'clock we all gathered up and decided to shoot the "walk in the path" I thought that the location was perfect because we had enough space to film and hardly ever got disturbed.  Due to the weather conditions that it was cold and about time to get dark as our location was outdoors we wanted to do it quick just in case it rains and we are in a vulnerable position with the cameras.  The first shot didn't go so well as the preparation of the cameras took a long time, as well as getting use to using them. Another down side to our first shot was the weather was getting dark too soon, so finding the right spot with the correct lighting was difficult and also the right spot to get the actor to walk down the path as the camera was in the way for certain shots.  We discussed what the shot will be before we got there, but didn't know exactly what we wanted to stand out and what we wanted to stand out which was another problem because we lost time there and after figuring out what we need to do the preparation also took time.
Discussion and preparation was done but we forgot that it got dark and the camera's wont perfect quality, as it was dark the filming wasn't so good, we couldn't get a good shot for the first time. That day we did not do any filming and felt the day was wasted because we had taken too long. However it was also an advantage because we knew to come earlier the next time and knew what shots to take and what to do.

Friday 12th November
The second shot, as location/lighting manager I decided that Royal chase hotel would be a perfect spot to show a flashback of the killer how he met this women in a bar and also how they went to a room. unfortunately the location was unavailable and later on discovered that it wouldn't be such a good idea to because showing the killers face laughing with the female actress Hande wouldn't be a mysterious as we decided to keep the killers face secret and ad suspension to the film.
Later we decided that taking these shots in a house would be much more suitable and had more common sense as the killer wouldn't have wanted to murder the girl in a hotel room and get caught red handed as it was a busy place and also has security camera's. The girl taking the murderer to her house was a better idea, so Karina our make-up and props manager kindly suggested we take the next shots in her house which was a good idea because we didn't have a disadvantage of lighting and I wasn't available on the day, but it was okay because as a group we already discussed what the shots will look like and how the lighting will be and a natural effect it would have. We also discussed that the flashbacks will be black and white so the lighting's wasn't something to worry about. Later on getting feedback of my group mates the filming went a lot better and they enjoyed doing the killing scene, Lyden and Karina was on camera's and they took shots from different angles and as we clearly can see, Karina had done a good job which the make up and props.

Saturday 13 November
Was our scene of mother and child, this was meant to be a scene to show that she is a worried house wife waiting for her husband as we showed our actor Michael's wedding ring on his hand. No one in the group was available to take this shot but as it was Karina's cousin and her son she took the shots in her own time which was an advantage.

Monday 15th November
We attempted to take video shots of the "walking" scene that we tried to on Tuesday on Monday which was a day before to give in the camera's so it was our last chance. The weather was calm and as we had learnt our lesson and planned the group attended to the location around 2pm which was perfect time as preparing did take time. Once again and unfortunately  I wasn't available due to personal things, but the location was set and couldn't have done much about lighting because it was outdoors and didn't have professional equipment and also it was natural light so we was lucky that the group managed to work with that. Lyden and Karina took different shots and had to use the bushes to be able to get better shots and different ones. our producer/director Michael was our actor and it took the group about 30 minutes to get the filming done and have several different shots we can use to edit.

pre production

This was our armature film, My task in the group was lighting and location manager. I was responsible for finding a secure location for the film to take place which was a good location for the equipment, the actors and a safe environment also something suitable for what the director wanted. For this I decided that the villain can walk down a long creepy alley way with the bag which was perfect for a phsyco who had two personality's. For the affair to be happening House was the most suitable place so we decided to make this happen in Karina's house.

Karina was responsible for props and make up. She done the victims make up and used fake blood. Her responsibility was to make sure we had all the props we needed and the actors make ups were perfect. As she brought in fake blood, ring, costume and done our actres's make up and hair.
Lyden was responsible for camera and sounds. Hes responsibility was that the equipment was safe and that chose the shots that were perfect for the film and suitable ones. He chose the camera angles, movements and shots. He was also responsible for the sound that was played for the film and were the tension was built how the rhythm, the beat and were silence and were the breathing sound should be put in.

Michael was responsible for the directing and how the actors where acting, what kind of location he wanted, what kind of sound , which props were needed and he had the last say even thoe everyone was responsible of their own roles.

For our thriller film I got inspired by a true story of a boy who murders his girl friend and stuffs her in a bag then throws her away. Our whole idea of the play was from this incident, but we decided to change the story line. The man had a wife and kids, he also had another personality, he was mentally disturbed and his behaviours change. We decide to make this man a murderer and kill the girl then get rid of her body. Through out the story we can see the man having his flashbacks. This was a reason why we named our film 2Faced it was most suitable because the killer was mentally disturbed in out story line and the name of the film helped us follow the generic conventions, it added suspense of why and who is two faced.
